StrongPoint announces strategic reorganisation of its Spanish operations and its global cash management business
(Oslo, January 14, 2021) StrongPoint today announces the strategic reorganisation of its management team in Spain, and also its global cash management business. The aim is to further accelerate StrongPoint’s position in providing grocery e-commerce solutions in Spain and to pursue global opportunities in the cash management sector.
In light of the growing demand for grocery retail technology products and services, especially in grocery e-commerce, StrongPoint has appointed Lorena Gomez Latorre as the Managing Director and Senior Vice President for StrongPoint Spain. As Senior Vice President, Lorena Gomez will become part of the Executive Management Team.
Gomez has extensive experience in managing and scaling sales in the retail sector and is currently the sales director for the retail technology division at HMY Group, a company she has been with since 2006. Between 2014-2019 she was responsible for the newly formed Retail Technology division at the Group level and since 2019 she has been the Sales Director for the Global Retail Technology division. Gomez is 35 years old, holds a degree in Technical Engineering from the University of Zaragoza and a Master’s degree in Innovation Management from the Instituto Tecnologico de Aragón.
“Coming with a broad and deep knowledge and experience of retail technology sales across Europe, Gomez will play an instrumental role in scaling our operations in the region. With her leadership we are confident in meeting the growing demand for our grocery retail products and services, in particular grocery e-commerce solutions,” said StrongPoint Group CEO, Jacob Tveraabak.
The current country manager for Spain, Javier Aguilera, is to take over a new global role focusing on International Cash Management Sales and will take over the responsibility of the growing list of international cash management partners. His new role will be International Director Cash Management Sales, and report directly to StrongPoint Group CEO, Jacob Tveraabak.
SVP EMEA, Trond Kongrød has been managing Spain over the four last years with continuous growth until the coronavirus pandemic hit the country and its economy hard. In addition, he has carried out the strategy of converting the StrongPoint businesses in Germany, Belgium and France into partner businesses. Trond Kongrød will now seek new management positions outside StrongPoint focusing on Norway and Scandinavia.
“I support this organizational change, though it has an impact on my own position”, said Trond Kongrød. “It has been an honour to lead the venture in Spain right from the acquisition and entry into the market, followed by four years of continuous growth and then lately manoeuvring in a market that was hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic. Our business is set for growth and our e-commerce solutions have a very good position in the market and resonate with the ongoing changes in consumer behaviour,” added Kongrød.
“On behalf of everyone at StrongPoint, I would like to wish Trond the best of success in future challenges and that we will miss the commitment, enthusiasm and strong sales focus, something that has always been his trademark,” added Tveraabak.
