StrongPoint receives large order from COOP for Click & Collect lockers to be installed in 20 stores
After a successful pilot test, COOP Online now choose to roll out Click & Collect-lockers to a larger number of stores around Sweden. An agreement has been signed between the Retail Technology company StrongPoint, that has developed the lockers, and Coop for StrongPoint to deliver Click & Collect lockers to another 20 locations in 2020.
In May, the Retail Technology company StrongPoint and Coop launched a pilot test for Click & Collect lockers. The lockers, specially developed for groceries with compartments for frozen, chilled and ambient items, were placed in close proximity of two of Coop’s stores. A third locker was also placed on the island of Sandhamn in the Stockholm archipelago. The pilot test went very well and already a couple of weeks into the test an initial evaluation was done where customers gave the lockers top marks. Based on the feedback from the pilot Coop has decided to roll out Click & Collect lockers on a larger scale.
– COOP Hämtas customers have provided positive feedback about the Click & Collect locker and with data from the pilot tests we now see that we have the opportunity to increase the pace in our roll-out and place more lockers throughout the country. We know that flexible delivery options are an important factor for customers that shop for food online. With Click & Collect lockers as a part of our offering we ensure we meet the customer expectations and strengthen our position on the market, says Catrin Folkesson, Business Area Director (affärsområdesdirektör) COOP Online.
Following the trend where more consumers start to shop for their groceries online, combined with the Swedish population generally become more e-commerce “savy”, the market experiences a higher demand for speed of delivery, flexibility and freedom of choice. Customers expect to “pick-up what you want, where you want and when you want”. This is where Click & Collect locker solutions play an increasingly important role.
– We are really pleased that the test was so successful. We have also noticed with great interest that Coop’s hub solution, the Click & Collect locker in Sandhamn, worked very well. We are convinced that hub solutions, such as Click & Collect Lockers, that are located at locations where a lot of people pass by daily, seems to be the next step in the locker evolution, says Sven Calissendorff, Senior VP Managing Director at StrongPoint in Sweden.
The order is StrongPoint’s eight Click & Collect Locker order for Sweden during 2019. In addition to Sweden, Click & Collect lockers have been delivered to Norway, Russia, Lithuania, Estonia, Italy, Spain, Germany and the USA.
